About Me

My name is Kirsten Alanna and I was born in Surrey, England....

Not that you really want to know.  What you're probably itching to know is who in the world did I come to create a blog titled, "My Life on Mars," and how it came to be.  Well, it's simple really.

My family, due to my dad's occupation, has had the opportunity to see the world, living in- Salt Lake City, Hong Kong, London and Vancouver Island. I've seen and experienced different cultures around the world-- I find them fascinating and beautiful all in their own way. With my dad's occupation, I've also had the pleasure of visiting Tahiti, the Philippines (Manila and Cebu), Taiwan and other various cities in the United States.  I love to travel (in case you couldn't gather that...).  So in other words, my mind is pretty open to knew things.

Now, back to Mars.

When I was in grade 6 while attending a public school I was bullied.  It was so bad that my parents pulled me out of school and home school me for the rest of the year.  I'm a social person- I need human interaction, so my parents looked into different private schools.

We found one-- a small multi-denominational christian school.

That's where my story begins.  I'm a Mormon-- and to most people they believe the stereotypes or the negative things (which usually aren't true). Mormons are-- for lack of a better word foreign to most.  We're strange, misunderstood and often judged on things that don't even belong to us.  In attending the private school, I felt very much like an astronaut making a mission to a different planet.  The customs were different...the atmosphere was different...you get the picture.

So, sit tight and enjoy-- I hope you learn something.  Heaven knows I sure did....actually...several things....

So why did I start this blog?  I wanted to address the stereotypes and misunderstandings I encountered/ struggled through as I attended school and share my story.

Here it is...

My Life on Mars.
